Sweet juicy berries high in vitamin C; fast and easy to grow, with abundant fruit on tall bushy plants. All the best parts of blackberries and raspberries combined in one delicious mouthful!
This is what was written about this fruit in 1896, a few years after it was created :

“[Judge J. H. Logan] is entitled to all credit for the origination of this noble fruit, which will be a perpetual monument, placing his name beside those of Longworth, Hovey, Wilson and other originators of new varieties of fruit. He has even done more than they.

He has produced a fruit or berry entirely unlike any in previous existence, a hybrid or mixture of two fruits, partaking of the characteristics of both of its parents.”

Rubus x loganobaccus – loganberry

APPEARANCE : Loganberries are an accidental cross between blackberries and raspberries. Long trailing fast-growing canes with large rough leaves and pale pink-white spring flowers produce heavy crops of flavoursome deep red berries (drupes) from early summer onwards. These plants are self fertile, though planting more than one often results in better yield. Loganberries start to fruit from a young age.
USE FOR :Grow your own fruit for eating fresh as healthy snacks; baking into puddings, pies, and pastries; or turning to juice and wine. Loganberries are high in Vitamin C.
CLIMATE : Completely frost hardy

PLANTING : Plant the canes against a tall trellis or taut wires, train them up and tie them in until they reach the top, then tie in new growth pointing down until you reach the bottom of the trellis. This helps increase fruit yields. Plant in full sun into any rich, well-drained soil. Space around 1.5m apart and plant quite shallow, around 10 cm deep. They prefer a lighter freer-draining soil than blackberries.

CARE : Mulch and water regularly until plant becomes established and keep watered at the roots when in flower and fruit. Prune the growing tips in summer to encourage branching, and cut out old canes in winter as they fruit on last year’s stems. The canes are thorny, and largely disease-resistant and frost-hardy.

MATURE HEIGHT & WIDTH:2-3 m H x 2 m W.
YOUR PLANTS : These are tubestock plants, healthy young plants with new roots that will establish quickly in your garden. The pot size is 80mm high and 42 mm wide.
You can see an example in the image gallery.
