Nasturtiums are really easy to grow with big seeds even little bubs can handle, and they pop up in as little as 10 weeks giving you fast vibrant colour. They can grow in hot sun and dry poor soil too, which makes them very useful for our gardens.
Alaska nasturtiums have the added beauty of cream splashed and patterned leaves, which provide the perfect contrast to bright fruity orange flowers. You can also eat the leaves and flowers in salads!
Tropaeolum majus ‘Alaska Salmon Orange’- nasturtium
DESCRIPTION: Hardy annual/perennial, compact dwarf variety, with bright orange flowers and edible variegated cream and green leaves resembling small lily pads. Plant as ground cover, or in pots and hanging baskets. RHS Award of Garden Merit
PLANTING: Sow seeds directly into garden beds early Spring through to Autumn. Add a slow release fertiliser to the soil prior to planting. Plant in free draining soil in a full sun to partly shaded location. Tolerates dry periods once established.
CARE: Easy care plant. Water seedlings regularly until established and during extended dry periods. For heavier flowering, tip prune by occasionally pinching out the growing tips.
