If you are looking for something truly unusual and beautiful – you’ve found it. Canary Brilliants is a full-flowered fragrant peony in a rare shade of soft lemon-apricot, flushed coral at the base of each petal.
The buds start off pink-apricot and gently become creamier as the flower opens, and in more sunshine. It’s an Itoh peony, a cross between the regular herbaceous shrub kind (lactiflora) and the tree kind, which is where it gets the unusual colouring, and much larger flowers.

Paeonia lactiflora x tree peony ‘Canary Brilliants’ – peony
APPEARANCE : Spring-Summer flowering herbaceous plant with double-flowered creamy-pink-yellow blooms, on long stems. An Itoh hybrid of tree peony and bush peony.
PLANTING: Peonies are hungry feeders and need rich loamy soil for best results – this one likes it alkaline so test the pH before planting. Avoid planting in veggie gardens or near tree roots as they do not like root disturbance. A cool shaded root and a sunny but not-too-hot head is ideal for the peony.
USE IN: Ideal for cottage gardens, mixed borders and cutting gardens as they are highly prized cut flowers.
CARE: Once planted, water the soil to set the tuber in place. An occasional light watering is all that’s needed until the first flowers appear. Water and feed weekly or if the soil becomes dry, give a good deep water. Use ice water in sub-tropical areas to help cool the roots
CLIMATE: Cool to sub-tropical, tolerates frost once established. Flowering is more prolific in cooler climates, and they need a cold winter for best results.
Contains 1 bulb.
